Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) Therapy; Basic Training Course

Welcome to the EMDR Basic Training with EMDR Integrative Training Center, LLC. If you are ready to begin and deepen your EMDR training in a way that feels supportive, personal, and manageable, you are in the right place. This virtual, small-group training experience is intentionally designed to help clinicians learn EMDR therapy at a pace that allows for true understanding, skill development, and confidence-building. With no travel required and time between training days to absorb and apply what you are learning, this course offers a practical and accessible path into EMDR training while supporting meaningful integration into real-world clinical practice.

Across the full training experience, participants will build a strong foundation in EMDR therapy while progressively developing the clinical skill, flexibility, and discernment needed to apply the model with increasing confidence. Core principles are introduced and reinforced throughout, including the Adaptive Information Processing (AIP) model, memory networks, the three-pronged protocol, the eight phases of EMDR treatment, target sequencing, and reevaluation. As the training progresses, participants move beyond foundational understanding into more advanced and nuanced applications of EMDR therapy.

This training emphasizes both structure and flexibility, preparing clinicians to work effectively with the complexity often encountered in practice. Participants will explore topics such as blocked processing, cognitive interweaves, dissociation, case conceptualization, and working with special populations, while also strengthening their ability to make thoughtful clinical decisions. Ethical and professional considerations are integrated throughout, along with guidance for maintaining safety and stability when working with more complex presentations.

In addition to comprehensive instructional content, the training includes supervised practicum experiences and applied learning tools designed to help participants translate knowledge into practice. Clinicians will continue building skills across all eight phases of EMDR therapy—history taking, preparation, assessment, desensitization, installation, body scan, closure, and reevaluation—while developing greater confidence in treatment planning and case conceptualization. The course also expands participants’ understanding of trauma through exploration of neurobiology, brain networks, and proposed mechanisms of EMDR therapy, supporting a deeper and more integrated clinical approach.
